Hey everyone, Happy Friday! One of the worst habits I have developed as a social media pro is the constant habit of mindlessly scrolling and bookmarking posts for inspiration. Even when i’m not working and I’m off the clock. I am constantly seeking inspiration and saving it for later. Because the way I see it…the more content you consume. The better content you create.

I did notice that I have been finding a lot of inspiration in social teasers. There’s something about a teaser creative and that phase of a campaign that I love. It pushes us as social pros to think big. I don’t know about you, but I love getting my community on the edge of their seat leading up to a launch. And that’s what today’s issue is about.

In this issue, we will go over the following:

  • Tips on developing an elite social teaser campaign (plus examples)

  • Social Pro Shoutout: Josh Rangel is the king of social memes

  • Random Social Tip of the Week

  • 5 hot social job opportunities that you should check out

Let’s get to it.

Here’s a hot take…

Social teasers can take your next social campaign from an 8/10 to a 10/10 if done right.

I thoroughly enjoy creating social media strategies for brand and product campaigns, and one aspect I always look forward to is crafting teasers. A good teaser creative adds more juice to the campaign and reveal. And like I said. It can take your next product drop and campaign to the next level.

Throughout my time leading social at C4 Energy, we would churn product innovation like no other. Every month, we were launching 1-2 new products it felt like. So for me, it was a constant challenge and battle internally on how we could up level each product drop and release on social. And for me, I loved exploring new teaser creative and rollouts.

When done right, teasers are algorithm and communal hacks. A strong social media teaser “primes” the social algorithm and funnels consumers to your page right before launch. More traffic to your page ahead of launch = stronger performance. Then, it enables your community and keeps your campaign and launch top of mind. More brand touch points leads to stronger success, more excitement, and more momentum.

So now what? I’m proving three tips and considerations for your next campaign, and then we’ll jump into some great inspiration by other brands.

Considerations When Crafting Social teasers for your next campaign:

  1. Focus on the emotion you want to evoke - When crafting your teaser creative, I really want you to focus on the emotion you want to trigger by your community. Is your creative very non revealing and you want to drive more curiosity? Do you just want pure hype and excitement? Each teaser creative in your campaign should focus on one emotion you want to generate among consumers.

  2. Explore a phased teaser approach - In our last campaign at Cadence, when we rolled out our all-new hydration flavor Orange Soda, we had 6 Instagram post teasers. yes, 6. You read that right. Each teaser was more revealing and each teaser served a specific function that led to the next teaser and kept consumers coming back. So for your next teaser drop…explore a phased teaser approach. Your first teaser can drive pure curiosity. Maybe your second leans into the launch date. Maybe the third leans into the flavor or product itself. Every teaser should be strategically phased and generates momentum that leads to the full reveal and drop.

  3. Leverage everything at your disposal - One of the biggest lessons I have learned over the years is that ‘social’ is bigger than what shows up on your brand social channels. It may be the biggest driver in your social ecosystem, but there’s so much more. Through your teaser phase, I would recommend looking at other drivers in your ecosystem. Can you drop easter eggs and teasers through influencers/creators? What about your founder if he’s active on social media? Maybe your teaser involves an OOH campaign. You could leverage your broadcast channel as well. I urge you to look beyond your brand social channels.

Social Pro Shoutout

As a social media professional, it’s normal to be asked “can’t we just put it on social” at least 2-3 times per month. It’s just a part of the role unfortunately. Josh is one of the best in the industry and makes some of the best social media memes too. This one hit home for me. Make sure to go give Josh a follow on LinkedIn!
