What’s up everyone! I’m sorry I didn’t get an email out last week. This was a first for me. My excuse? Well, it was a busy week for Cadence as we just launched in Target! This was such a fun campaign to bring to life (you can view our launch post here). If you’re looking for a new hydration product, make sure to go pick it up at Target today.
In this issue, we will go over the following:

Let’s get to it.

I didn’t start Stronger Social to just help you generate more engagement, maybe go viral, or be the first to share social media algorithm updates. What excites me the most about Stronger Social is helping you progress in your career.
I care less about the platforms, and more about the people behind the platforms.
I have learned so much in my career. I’ve been doing social for 10+ years and have had the opportunity to work with some of the biggest brands in the health & fitness industry. I started out early in my career as a social media coordinator and today I’m a Director of Social & Brand Marketing. It’s been a rollercoaster and I have learned so much that I want to share with you.
I want to share as much as I can from a social media career growth perspective and help you land your dream job. Then not only land it, but drive exceptional results. I want you to be happy, respected as a social media professional, and have everything you need to succeed in this field of work.
So, I’m doing a part two on how to get promoted and move up in social media, since my first email on this topic was a hit.
Let’s really dive in 🙏
I truly believe that one of the biggest things that has helped my career as a social media professional is this.
Visibility.
Yes, visibility.
Social media is often misunderstood. At the end of the day, leadership is not always aware of the business impact that social media drives. Social media is so much more than putting up posts, slinging memes, and responding to comments.
Social media - when done right is a business, brand, and community building engine that doesn’t shut off. Social is your brands biggest megaphone and where every marketing channel essentially comes to life through.
To move up in your career as a social media professional, visibility is needed and essential. Your results, learnings, and insights all need proper visibility.
So how does one get more visibility as a social media professional? Here are some tips and action items you can begin implementing immediately:
Following every brand and social campaign, you should be sharing and sending a recap deck to your manager and cross functional team members. This deck should encapsulate everything from social performance, to content insights, to learnings, and so much more. Let your results shine. Let them be highly visible.
Every month, you should be sending out a monthly social performance recap deck. What worked this month? What didn’t work? How did you stack up against competitors? Your monthly reporting decks don’t have to be extensive, they just need to be packed with insights. If you are unsure of what should be in your monthly report, ask your manager.
Speak up! When you are in cross functional team calls and questions arise or there are opportunities to present your work…jump on it. Seek out opportunities to speak up and champion your work. You are your biggest supporter.
Get more FaceTime with leadership. When opportunities arise to meet executive leadership, meet with them. Get to know them. Build a relationship with them. And get a better understanding of how you can make their lives easier and how you can better support them on social media.
Share your wins. When you generate incredible results, share them. When you have a post pop off, an incredible month for social performance, or you’re wrecking your competitors across all core social KPI’s - SHARE THEM. Share them in the teams chat with your cross functional team members. Make your wins visible. You can brag a little bit.
Start implementing these and I promise you’ll take leaps and bounds in your social media career.
I hope you all found this helpful!
WHAT STOPPED MY SCROLL
H&R Block broke the internet. Yes, you read that right. H&R Block. This is probably one of the funniest brand posts I have seen in a while, so a massive shoutout to their social team. I loved every second of this post and you just have to watch it for yourself.
Enjoy 🤣
SOCIAL PRO SHOUTOUT
Posts flop. That’s just the name of the game as a social media professional. The key though? Learn from them. Every flop is a learning opportunity about your community and content strategy. James is a legend in the space and is a meme expert if you can’t tell. I love this meme too much. Make sure to go give James a follow on LinkedIn!
